Last Updated: January 14, 2025
Privacy First: DealHawk is designed with your privacy in mind. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All data stays on your device.

Overview

DealHawk is a Chrome browser extension that helps users find profitable Lego arbitrage opportunities by monitoring retirement announcements and comparing prices across major retailers. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles data and what permissions it requires.

Data Collection

DealHawk does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

Specifically, we do NOT:

Local Storage Only

All data generated by DealHawk is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. This includes:

This data never leaves your computer and can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage.

Third-Party Services

To function properly, DealHawk fetches publicly available product information from these retailers:

Important: These requests are made directly from your browser to the retailers' public websites, just like if you were browsing them manually. DealHawk does not act as an intermediary or store any of this data on external servers.

Each retailer has their own privacy policies. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information.

Permissions Explained

DealHawk requires the following Chrome permissions to function. Here's exactly why each permission is needed:

storage
Save your settings (price thresholds, scan intervals, enabled retailers) and found opportunities locally on your device. No data is sent to external servers.
alarms
Schedule periodic price checks at your configured interval (default: every 30 minutes). This allows the extension to run in the background without draining battery.
notifications
Display browser notifications when profitable opportunities are found. You can disable these in Chrome settings at any time.
host_permissions
Access the following websites to check public product prices:
These permissions only allow fetching public data from these specific domains, nothing more.

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage API, your data is protected by:

DealHawk does not transmit data over the internet (except for fetching public product information), so there is no risk of data interception or server breaches.

Your Rights

Since DealHawk does not collect or store personal information on external servers, there is no data to request, modify, or delete from our systems. However, you can:

Open Source

DealHawk is transparent in its operation. The complete source code is available on GitHub for review, ensuring that the extension operates exactly as described in this privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of DealHawk after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
